Shogun Fish Report 07-21-07

Today the Shogun fished Cedros Island for niced sized yellowtail. Fishing fly line sardines and iron continue to produce yellows up to 40 pounds. During the early morning also produced a nice 45 pound class white sea bass to keep things interesting. The weather continues to cooperate with calm seas and. overcast skies yielding to sunshine.

We spent a few days hunting bluefin and scored some nice albacore fishing and a fantastic view of a blue whale mom and calf. We continue to have challenges getting bluefin to bite our live sardines. One hypothesis is that the bluefin are feeding on anchovy bait balls and getting them to switch to sardines is a challenge. A second hypothesis is that the fish were boat shy from the commercial fishing efforts in the region. We decided to change...... Read More
