FATHER'S DAY 1.5 DAY TRIP REPORT
We departed at eight o clock, Friday June 14 for a 1.5 day Fathers day weekend special. We had a nice load of anchovies and sardines and a great group of eager guests. Flat, calm weather greeted us offshore the morning of the 15th as we traveled south to the fish-rich waters of northern Baja. Throughout the day we hit various kelps and ended up with 121 Yellowtail for our day. The grade of the fish ranged from 8 - 12 lbs on average, with smaller fish released and a few of the larger fish 15 - 28 lbs.
We did get one stop on bluefin in the morning, but they were all show and no go. I still believe these fish are a few weeks away from getting settled in and hopefully start biting on this new moon phase.
I included a picture of Chef Cristin's AWESOME Cabrilla sandwich, Photo #1. Capt. Steve and I caught these Cabrilla in the Sea of Cortez aboard our last Tony Reyes trip this past April. I am not personally a big fan of fish sandwiches, but Chef Cristin did such a fantastic job that it changed my opinion.
We would like to thank everyone who rode with us this weekend and hope all the fathers had a great father's day weekend. Check back with us as we depart for a SOLD-OUT 2.5 day trip Thursday afternoon, June 20th.
2.5 DAY FISHING TRIP, DEPARTING JUNE 25TH
You can't beat this price - $375 - with meals AND permits included! It's a light load and our last trip with availability before 4th of July weekend. Catch some Blue Fin and Yellowtail for that family BBQ!
Our trip on the 26th is looking to be an awesome trip. Capt. Mark thinks the tuna will start biting with this lunar phase ... which starts during this trip! Come on out with us!
BOOK NOW!
This year is already shaping up to be a pretty amazing year. Hopefully everyone can join us soon.
Tight Lines and Sharp Hooks,
Capt. Mark Gillette
