The blue marlin bite this past week from Puerto Morelos was the best we have ever reported for this area and when added to the white marlin and sailfish catches for the week, the odds on chances of landing a billfish were the best they have ever been. Dorado catches continued to be the "fish of the week" as far as the numbers go, but the billfish were by far the more exciting species in the wide spectrum catch report. It was a busy fishing week from the Marina El Cid that had provided a total of 46 days fished and a mixed bag catch that produced 10 different species for the anglers. Included were 10 blue marlin, 8 white marlin, 5 sailfish, 26 dorado, 5 wahoo, 17 bonito, 7 giant barracuda, 8 blackfin tuna, 15 pargo and 1 banana fish.

PM Climate: The rainy season is underway for Puerto Morelos, with mostly cloudy days and scattered thunder showers and temperatures that ranged from 78 nights to 89 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Sea temps remained good for the week and averaged about 83 degrees throughout the area. Surface winds came mostly from the easterly directions in the 10-20 mph ranges, offering some surface popcorn for the area.

Best Bait/Lure: The continuous supply of fresh ballyhoo rigging baits remains the choice of the crews and the anglers and we have never reported a bait interruption in this area, with exception to hurricane periods when the port is closed to traffic.
