There was an upward trend for dorado this past week along with the upward sea temperature increases for the entire area. While the Pacific striped marlin disappeared this past week, the sailfish bite kept the offshore anglers busy with better than a 50% catch rate and the dorado added to the action. The dorado ranged widely in sizes from about 10-12 lbs. to about 35 lbs., and seems to be showing their annual return to the buoys in the offshore waters. As the bite picked up in the offshore waters, so did the inshore bite for t he super pangas. the overall offshore bite for 15 fishing days reflected 8 sailfish, (1 released) and 20 dorado and the inshore bite for 5 days fished reflected 15 corvina, 1 cabrilla, 25 snappers, 10 triggerfish and 10 rock perch.

Mazatlan Climate: Partly cloudy days with intermittent sunshine and temps that varied from 60 degree nights to 87 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Excellent water temperatures holding at 80-82 degrees from just off the coastline to the off shore fishing areas and with mostly light & variable surface breezes in the 5-15 mph ranges.

Best Fishing Area: Continues out to the southwest of the Marina El Cid, starting at about 16 miles or so.

Best Lure/Bait: Rigged trolling baits working best on the sailfish and the bigger dorado and smaller surface lures doing well for the smaller dorado.

Bait Supply: Continues to be readily available for both, fresh rigging baits and live bait. Live bait remains at $1.00 per bait and paid direct to the bait vendor at time of receipt.
