According to Captain Temo Verboonen, our area reporter, the week started out with a flurry of very good fishing aboard the "Bloody Hook", with Captain Chiro Barrigan and his English speaking mate, Luis and their charter with the Mark & Libby Holden party from the U.S., landing a couple of sailfish and a couple of dorado for their 1-day charter. Following the Holden charter was the father son team of Joe Princen, Sr. and Joe Jr., Auburn, WA, releasing a pair of sailfish and landing a big dorado on their first fishing day aboard the "Bloody Hook", making the charter a lifetime special memory for these folks. "We are still seeing a good bite on the marlin, sailfish and dorado but they are changing locations almost everyday. The inshore fishing turned this past week and again became very slow, likely due to the greener and cooler waters. We are starting to see more anglers again as the Spring Break timing arrives and that should allow for more people showing up for fishing on a daily basis".

IZ Climate: Mostly sunny & warm days and very pleasant evenings with temps ranging from 71 nights to 90 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Good conditions prevail in this area with sea temps at 83 for the inshore waters and rising to 85 in the off shore waters. Surface breezes ranged from light & variable to 15 mph, mostly from the westerly directions. The clarity has changed with off-colored green water extending out to about 18 miles or so, pushing the fish a little farther off shore, too. Surface breezes ranged from light to about 15 mph, mostly from the westerly directions.

Best Fishing Area: Early in the week, the fish were as close as 12 miles out from the bay and by later in the week, the fish had moved out to the 20-25 mile mark. Seems like the changes are coming and going by the day.

Best Lure/Bait: The rigged trolling baits were performing very well for the anglers on the billfish and the dorado, too.

Bait Supply: The bait supply continued to be very good through the week for both, live bait and fresh baits for rigging.
