Fish Report for 3-18-2013
Trout are still the best bite at Lake Skinner although the Bass bite should come on soon
3-18-2013
Lake Skinner Marina Staff
The water temperature has been running between 56 and 59 degrees at Lake skinner. The fishing report this week is very similar to last week.
Trout: The best place to fish for trout is the East Bay on the south side or up against the reeds or Ramp 2. The trout have been hitting on yellow PowerWorms, nightcrawlers, or rainbow or red, white and blue PowerBait. Peewee lures and some white flies were also used.
Largemouth Bass: The best action has been in the coves or off of points in about 10 ft. of water. A lot of bass are just following right now. They are not quite ready. For bait use purple and pink colors, drop shots, sinkos or crankbait.
Striped Bass: Some nice big biols were reported this weekend. The best location was the middle of the lake. Not many Stripers have been caught yet.
Bluegill: The BLuegill can still only be found in deep water. Worms have been the best bait
Catfish: There has been some nice Catfish action out at Marina Point or Ramp 1 with chicken liver.
Carp: Will bite at almost anything especially dough bait all over the lake.
The next trout plant will be March 21, 2013.
Notables: Alex Butarida from Riverside caught a 10 l. Largemouth on a Jackel Lure at the south shore.
Jay Loggins of Highland caught this very nice Crappie, Pictured above on nightcrawlers at the North Bay.
Kendyl, Brianna and Isabel Stewart from Excondido caught 3 nice trout, Photo #1. The largest was 1.5 lbs. and they used green PowerBait.
