Fish Report for 3-4-2013

Anglers had another successful week of Santee Lake Trout fishing with lake 3 producing the most fish

TROUT:
Tom Drieci, pictured above from San Diego hauled in a 10 lb. 8 oz. Trout from lake 3 on powerbait and nightcrawler combo. Tom is entered into the April 1st drawing for a flat screen TV and not to mention walks away with 10 lbs. of Trout.

Doug McConnaughey, Photo #1 caught a 7 lb. 4 oz. Rainbow Trout out of lake 3 on a nightcrawler. Doug is also entered into the TV drawing.

Paul Johnson, Photo #2 from Chula Vista caught a 6 lb. 8 oz. Trout and is in the running for the TV. This fish was pulled from lake 4 on powerbait.

Arnica and Anthony Lourice, Photo #3 caught a 6 lb. Trout out of lake 3 on a nightcrawler. TV drawing qualifier.

Arthur Mu, Photo #4 from El Cajon caught a 5 lb. 1 oz. Trout from lake 3 on a nightcrawler. Arthur is also in the TV drawing.

Eric Klingenmeier, Photo #5 from Santee caught a 5 lb. 8 oz. Trout out of lake 3 on rainbow powerbait and nightcrawler. TV drawing qualifier.

James Trent, Photo #6 caught a 5 lb. 1 oz. Rainbow out of lake 4 on green powerbait and white powerworm combo. Congrats James you are also in the TV drawing.

The final Trout stock will arrive sometime Friday, March 8th. You have until the end of the day March 31st to catch a Trout 5 lbs. or larger and earn your way into the April 1st TV drawing.

BASS:
Yes the Bass are active. You can spot numerous beds around all of the lakes. Please remember that the Bass are catch and release. This program is increasing the Bass population as well as yielding larger Bass.

A Santee Lakes Fishing permit is required and may be purchased from the front gate or the general store. $150 fine will be issued for folks fishing without a valid permit.

Bob Serrano, Photo #7 caught a 3 lb. 8 oz. Bass out of lake 5 on a nightcrawler.

CATFISH:
Mark your calendars and make camping reservations! Catfish Opening Weekend is scheduled for April 6th and 7th. 2,000 lbs. of Catfish will stocked including HUGE Cats and tagged Catfish worth CASH and Prizes!

Night Fishing (registered campers only, lakes 6&7)

** No California State Fishing License required to fish at Padre Dam's Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve.

Fishing Permit Fees
Adult (ages 16 and over) $9.00 per day
Junior (ages 7 to 15) $6.00 per day
Second fishing pole stamp $4.00
*One child under 7 may fish for free with a paid adult
