Fish Report for 2-19-2013
The warmer weather caused the Crappie bite to heat up at Cachuma Lake
2-19-2013
Cachuma Lake Staff
The warmer weather turned up of the Crappie bite in the narrows, and many angler had double digit days on the slabs to 2.5 lbs. Trolling C.D. Rapalas in the 3 to 5 size was the hot ticket.
The Bass bite improved as both largemouth and smallmouth bagan to move up for the spawn. Jigs, creatures, Texas rigs and cranks all took fish to 4.5 lbs.
Trout action slowed slowed some but there were some big fish reported. An 11.9 lb. monster took a plastic worm. Several 4 to 7 lb. rainbows were weighed in at the marina. Flat lined minnow imitations were a very good bet for the 'bows. The next plant is scheduled for March 19th.
A handful of catfish were also taken, but no significant numbers yet. Bow fishing for Carp went ballistic early in the week, and one archer reported 25 big Carp shot back in the narrows. Unfortunately the action has tapered off as fast as it heated up.
