Bluegill:
Bluegills are still in deep water. or off the points in about 10 to 12 ft. of water. When they move to the points they are looking for food like crickets, nightcrawlers or mealworms. There were a lot of real nice Bluegill caught this week.

Catfish:
Cats are hitting on sardines or anchovies. Fishing for the cats has been fair at best.

Largemouth Bass:
The Bass are cruising the banks tight to the reeds. There is either no action, or slow action. So the Largies are a tough bite right now. The Bass that have been caught were out by the Inlet on either a light purple drop shot, pink roboworms or nightcrawlers.

Striped Bass:
They are still in the deep water at least 50 ft. down. Umbrella rigs gave the best results this week but it took some effort. In the future we look for swimbait or white flies to work for the Stripers.

Trout:
Limits were the norm all week with nightcrawlers and PowerBait working the best. For the PowerBait there was no preferred colors and a garlic scent worked well. Small power worms also worked, with the preferred colors being brown, orange and blood red. The preferred lures were small and included shite mouse tails, Kastmaster, super-dupers, Panther Martins and Roostertails. The East Bay area was the place to be to catch the trout. Carp were out but little action.

The next trout plant will be on February 15th. The water temperature has been running between 50 and 55 degrees.
