Lake Skinner Marina Staff

The water temperature at Lake Skinner has been running between 51 and 55 degrees. The water level has dropped 5 ft. and the inlet is moderately flowing.

Bluegill
You'll find Bluegill either in deep water or off points at about 10 to 12 ft in the water column where they move for food. Crickets, nightcrawlers and mealworms is the best bait to use for the 'gills. Some real beauties were caught this week.

Catfish
Sadines or anchovies have been getting the best results. Some nice sized cats are still being caught.

Largemouth Bass
The largemouth bite has been slow and tough. The largies are cruising the banks tight to the reeds but they have not been on the take. The largies thathave been caught have been near the inlet on drop shot, robo worms (light purple or pink) and nightcrawlers in the cove by the inlet.

Striped Bass
The Stripers have been found in the deep water, at least 50 ft down. Umbrella rigs had the best results this week but needed a lot of effort. Swimbaits or white flies should begin producing soon.

Trout
Limits were being taken all week with nightcrawlers or PowerBait. All colors have been working well, and the fish have loved the garlic scent. Other baits that have been effective include power worms either brown, orange or red. White mouse tails have also been good as well as many small lures lie Kastmaster, Super-dupers, Panther Martins and roostertails. The East bay seems to be getting the most action with the nightcrawlers. The next trout plant will be on February 1 2013.
