The report started out with excitement and wound up with excitement. Captain Temo Verboonen's report started out with a half-dozen words that virtually said it all, "IT'S JUST INCREDIBLE FISHING IN ZIHUATANEJO...." He continued, "the deep sea fishing is enormously productive for the anglers and the reports from the skippers just don't get too much better as the boats were reporting 6-8 sailfish releases each fishing day and adding to the action was the consistently good sized dorado catches, (20-40 pounders) that accompanied the sailfish action." Captain Chiro, owner/operator of the 35' Bertram, "Bloody Hook", reported fishing 2 days with client Furman Shepard, resulting in a banner 2nd day that resulted in 6 sailfish released, 1 blue marlin, estimated at 350 lbs. released and a trophy sized dorado for dinner. Overall, it's about as good as it can get and the action is taking place all day long with the action starting as soon as the baits hit the water. There was no inshore fishing report this past week as the offshore action was the center of attraction for the fleet.

IZ Climate: Partly cloudy days but near perfect overall weather. Early in the week was a cold morning, down to 53 degrees, but the following days were in the 60's and rapidly rose to 83 degrees by mid-morning. As Temo said, "perfect weather, calm seas and mostly sunny days".

Sea Conditions: Excellent! Sea temps holding well at 83-84 degrees, great water clarity with that deep blue-purple look and almost no swell, accompanied by light & variable surface breezes.

Best Fishing Area: This past week, the highlight of the action took place at about 10 miles offshore, straight out from Zihuatanejo Bay.

Best Bait/Lure: It was good fishing on rigged baits, live baits and also with a variety of artificials. The fish were hungry and eager.

Bait Supply: Excellent supply of bait, both live bait and fresh rigging baits.
