Fish Report for 1-4-2013
The East Walker is still challenged & if you fish it keep to the deeper pools

The flows have remained a tad over 30 cfs for a couple weeks. This is a good thing for the trout this winter as even this small additional amount of water will greatly improve the habitat during the extreme cold that settles in during January. Thanks to the water district for doing this. To put it in perspective, the Upper Owens has almost three times the amount of water flowing in it currently. You will find significant snow and ice along the banks with the occasional "ice berg" floating down the river during the mornings. Work the deepest pools only and remember to keep those gill plates well below the water after a battle and during the release.
