12-28-2012
Lake Morena Staff
Lake Conditions: Surface temperature is 50.5 and 50.0 @ 20ft. Water visibility is at about 2' to 3'.
** IMPORTANT NOTE** There are currently no state fishing licenses available in the Lake Morena area so be sure you acquire one before you arrive. The State Licenses is required.
Please remember to renew your State Fishing Licenses. It's that time of year.
Trout: Another great week for Anglers. Plenty of limits so I'll skip right to the highlights. Dennis Huhn from Campo plucked a 3 lb 4 oz 'bow on his way to a 10.6 limit. Dennis was back in Horseshoe cove with some rainbow power bait. Jim Hill was out testing his spots a few times this week and each day a limit. His use of Kastmasters prevailed with mostly 2 lbers. Jim Rice of Alpine was in the zone fishing in Paradise cove with crank bait and later was seen trolling the middle with his brother for their limits. John Derflinger of Campo was showing them how it's done in Geezer cove with his roster tail and night crawlers. Several shore fishermen were parked at Geezer cove this week with variable amounts of success.
Bass: Nothing much new. No Bass reported this week
Catfish: No whiskers reported this week
Blue Gill: A few of the pan fish were cleverly disguised as trout. Probable DFG's.
Crappie: The crappie bite has slowed up once again.
Carp: These fish are saving themselves for another time.
