Another excellent and exciting fishing week from Mazatlan with lots of billfish action in the offshore waters. The sailfish have been eager to grab the rigged trolling baits and the opportunities continue to be 4-8 strikes per fishing day. The overall count for 16 offshore fishing days reflected 35 sailfish, (18 releases) and 4 dorado for their efforts with the Aries III, skippered by Martin Raygoza, had a 4-fish release day. The inshore super pangas are in the thick of the Sierra, (aka Spanish mackerel) and they were certainly the inshore fish of the week. The super pangas, reporting in for 6 inshore days fished, reflected 1 sailfish, 1 dorado, 2 roosterfish, (released) and 69 Sierra.

Mazatlan Climate: Mostly sunny and warm days with cool evenings and mornings. Temps ranging from 60 nights to 86 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Sea temps ranged from 80 inshore to 82 offshore, with very small swells and mostly light & variable surface breezes from the westerly directions.

Best Fishing Area: The better fishing continues to be out to the southwest of the Marina El Cid, starting at about 18 miles and outbound from there. Water has good clarity in the offshore waters.

Best Bait/Lure: rigged trolling baits were working exceptionally well for the billfish.

Bait Supply: Remains very good for fresh rigging baits and for live baits.
