According to Ms. Nayade Gamboa, our reporter for the Marina El Cid Sportfishing Fleet in Puerto Morelos, the past week was an unusually good fishing week that produced a 13 fish mixed bag catch for 18 days fished and even produced an off season sailfish, taken aboard the Hammer, skippered by Captain Elias Tah. In addition to the sailfish, we had 9 dorado, 18 bonito, 5 giant Atlantic barracuda, 3 Spanish mackerel, 2 king mackerel, 2 wahoo, 2 trigger fish, 2 amberjack, 14 grouper, 10 snapper, (a mix of dogtooth, cubera, yellowtail snappers) 6 soapfish, and 2 banana fish. When you get tired of the snow and cold in the northeast, we are but a couple hours away to warm and toasty days in the tropical warm climate of Puerto Morelos.

PM Climate: Mostly cloudy days but still, very good weather that ranged from 63 nights to 84 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Mostly light and variable surface breezes in the 5-10 mph ranges and a stable 81 degree water temperature.

Best Bait: Continues to be the daily, fresh caught, ballyhoo as the choice of the skippers and anglers for this area.

Bait Supply: We have never experienced a single day without a good selection of fresh baits for the boats and anglers with exception to days of port closures.
