Excellent fishing at Santee Lakes, 13 lb + Largemouth caught

TROUT:
Join us Opening Weekend November 3rd and 4th. Lakes open at 6 am. 2,500 lbs. of Rainbow Trout will be split into lakes 3 and 4. HUGE trout and tagged trout worth CASH and prizes! The top 5 largest Trout caught over the weekend will win prizes. Catch a Trout 5 lbs. or larger and get entered into the April 1st drawing for a flat screen tv.
BASS: Bass bite good. Aaron Morrison, pictured above & at Photo #1 had a good week landing a 9 lb. 5 oz. and a 13+ lb. Bass. The 13 came out of lake 3 and the 9.5 out of lake 4. Both fish were released as Bass are mandatory catch and release. The lake record is 13 lbs. 8 oz. and will be broken soon.
CATFISH:
The Lakes final Catfish stock for 2012 was dumped into lakes 3 and 4 last Thursday. Syrena Cook, Photo #2 age 11 caught a nice 6 lb. 8 oz. Catfish out of camper lake 7 on hotdogs. This was Syrena's first fish! Great job!
Brandon Mizuhara and Jose Garcia, Photo #3 from Spring Valley caught a stringer full of Cats out of lake 4 on mackerel and mealworms.
BLUEGILL: Christian Yale, Photo # 4 age 7 had an exciting day catching Bluegill out of lake 5.
Recipe of the Week:
Bluegill Parmesan
Ingredients • 1/4 cup butter, melted
• 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
• 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
• 2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon paprika
• 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
• 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
• 1/4 teaspoon pepper
• 1 pound bluegill
Directions
• Place butter in a shallow bowl. In another shallow bowl, combine the bread crumbs, cheese and seasonings. Dip fish in butter, then coat with crumb mixture.
• Place in a greased 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. baking pan. Bake, uncovered, at 350 ? for 20 minutes or until fish flakes easily with a fork. Yield: 4 servings.
Night Fishing (registered campers only, lakes 6&7)
** No California State Fishing License required to fish at Padre Dam's Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve.
Fishing Permit Fees
Adult (ages 16 and over) $9.00 per day
Junior (ages 7 to 15) $6.00 per day
Second fishing pole stamp $4.00
*One child under 7 may fish for free with a paid adult
