Lake Morena Staff

Lake Conditions Surface temperature is 73.9 and 72.1 @ 20ft.
Water Clarity Water visibility is at about 3' to 4' depending on the wind.

** IMPORTANT NOTE** There are currently no state fishing licenses available in the Lake Morena area so be sure you acquire one before you arrive. The State Licenses is required.

Trout Just a few short months until the stockings begin again.
Bass Not much new. The Bass are still being caught in the 1 to 2 lb. range through the middle of the lake and near the mouth of Cottonwood creek. All caught and released. Seiko's and silver or brown plastics seem to work for the anglers.

Catfish The catfish have moved their collective populace from Pumphouse to Paradise cove. Popular baits included mackerel and night crawlers, chicken livers and, believe it or else, Powerbait. Windy conditions kept the numbers low for the whiskers.

Blue Gill Pumphouse Cove was the spot for the gills but other rocky areas were also working as well. Many were caught while combing the depths for other species. Youngsters were seen popping out some blue gill along Geezer cove. Jasper and Crow (real names) Lazaro from San Diego were using red worms in Geezer cove.

Crappie The crappie bite has show up once again in small quantities for the patient. Trolling the middle at about 25ft. was the tip this week.

Carp These fish are saving themselves for another time.

Miscellaneous In keeping with my policy of never letting the facts get in the way of a good story comes the following; The Deep Water Lake Morena Amphibian has surfaced with sightings near camping spot #12 searching for the white robed mair faiden that makes her appearance floating around about this time of year. Stay tuned for more this month.
