Cooler weather has trout coming closer to the surface (still at about 30-35 feet deep) with the baits of choice being night crawlers and rainbow and chartreuse colored power bait. We had Ronald Weldum of Stockton catch a nice 4.50lb trout out by Hat Island about 40 feet down while using a lure.

Sorry no reports of bass this week. Catfish are still going strong with Donel Baca of Oakland catching a 6.61lber near the entrance to the Narrows while fishing with a night crawler.

Catfish are caught easiest during the early morning or evening hours whether in the main lake or in any of our many ponds. Baits used range from power baits, cheese, chicken liver, and night crawlers.
