Fish Report for 9-11-2012
Catfish action has been the best at Lake Cachuma & the Bass action has tapered off
9-11-2012
Cachuma Lake Staff
Catfish have been the best bet lately with many fish coming out of the shallow coves with creek channels such as Johnsons', Harveys' and Clarks'. The kitties can be found in water from 2' to 15' of water and have been taking Mackerel readily.
The Bass action has tapered off, but there is still a topwater bite early. If the temperature gets too warm that bite shifts to later in the day. Both largies and smallies have moved to depths up to 30'.
Crappie fishing has been fait with slabs to 3 lbs. reported at the Marina. Small tube jigs with mealworms accounted for most of the panfish. Trolling has been on the slow side although a handful of quality hold-over fish were taken from the shore near the mouth of Harveys'. Inflated crawlers and poserbait were the best bet for the rainbows. Carp reports have been scarce due to a general lack of archers.
