Fish Report for 9-4-2012
Bass have been the best bet at Cachuma Lake
9-4-2012
Cachuma Lake Staff
Largemouth bass have been providing the most action. Fish are being caught from the dam to the narrows on reaction baits and finesse techniques. Cloud cover in the morning has provided some top water fish on spooks, poppers and buzz baits. Deep diving crank baits, jigs and creature baits have been working later in the day.
Catfish can be found in 1 to 20 ft. of water in Dead Horse Canyon, Sweetwater and the Narrows on shrimp and cut mackerel. The Crappie bite improved this week. Santa Cruz Bay was the hot location for slabs to 2 lbs. Mini jigs and grubs were the best bait for the slabs.
Trout fishing is still on the slow side. A couple of limits were taken from the shore with PowerBait or 'crawlers in Harvey's. Bowfishing has been good all day in the backs of coves and mainlake shorelines.
