So far this season only a half-dozen or so albacore have been reported caught by the long range fleet. That makes it unlikely we'll see any thousand-fish days this summer, but it also seems unusual that the longfin keep showing up mixed with other species. The latest report of a rare-acore comes from along ranger still close to home.

"Today was the first fishing day," said the report from Intrepid for August 13, "on our annual Amero Investment 4-day charter. We fished offshore and had great day catching yellowtail, dorado, yellowfin tuna, bluefin tuna, and we even caught one albacore! We ended up with our daily limits of yellowtail and dorado and also had a couple of good opportunity's on both yellowfin and bluefin tuna. The weather was good, the fishing was good, great friends spending quality time on the water together. It doesn't get much better than that. We will be offshore again tomorrow. The pictures from today are both of Richard Casas, one with a bluefin tuna and the other with his albacore and the gaffer, our chef, Paul Cloutier. During the same stop, Richard landed an albacore, a bluefin tuna, a yellowfin tuna, a dorado, and a yellowtail....Wow! Good job Richard!
