Great Albacore Action on the Ranger 85

7-1-2007
Homan Khaki

The Albacore bite is in full swing out of H&M Landing and Captain Frank Ursitti of the Ranger 85 took 28 anglers straight to school! We shoved off directly after Captain Ursitti informed us about the current conditions and spent a few minutes going over some basic rail etiquette.

We traveled approximately 90 miles off shore and finally threw the feathers out at the fishing grounds. The morning started a little slow with a few pickings at the Albacore, but closer to noon we began hitting small schools. We scanned a few nice kelp patties that showed some promising marks, however there wasn't a whole lot of action. In the after noon and early evening, we got into some wide open bites with many nice Albacore, Bluefin and Yellowtail in the mix!

Day 1 Jackpot Winner:
Homan Khaki
I saw a nice sized mackerel floating around in the bait tank and asked Deck Boss Manny Vargas if the Fat Alberts would hit it. Manny replied that the Bluefin would definitely be more interested. Two and a half minutes later, I found myself giving Manny a high five after landing the jackpot Bluefin Tuna!

Day 2 Jackpot Winner:
Danny Harrison
Our second day was soon coming to a close as we picked off a few more nice grade Albies on the troll. On one of our stops, we got the school going and Danny had his bait in the right place at the right time, landing him the biggest Albacore of the day! Congratulations Danny!

The fishing is great and the Ranger 85 has some upcoming availability. Get in on the action while it's HOT, call H&M today! (619) 222-1144
