Puerto Morelos is like a giant Caribbean aquarium that offers an unusually wide spectrum of game fish throughout the area and attracts anglers from all over the globe. The close proximity to the fishing grounds is just minutes out the front door as the deep water drops off to more than 100 fathoms within a couple minutes from the entrance to the Marina El Cid. This past week the catches reflected a 13 fish variety that included 1 blue marlin, 2 white marlin, 8 sailfish, 6 Atlantic giant barracuda, 5 blackfin tuna, 19 dorado, 49 bonito, 6 Spanish mackerel, 4 amberjack, 3 grouper, 6 snapper, 3 banana fish and 6 triggerfish for a total of 27 days fished.

PM Climate: Partly cloudy days with intermittent sunshine and occasional showers. Temps at 75 nights to 90 daytime highs and some humidity but light easterly surface breezes.

Sea Conditions: Superb conditions with temps that are holding at 83-84 degrees and almost no swell condition at all.

Best Bait/Lure: The ever available ballyhoo continues to be the bait of choice for this area and is used in a variety of different fashions, including skirted baits, cut baits, stripped baits, etc.

Bait Supply: We have never experienced a fishing day that lacked sufficient bait for all of the sportfishers.
