"We spent most of our day traveling north," recalled the report from Intrepid July 9, "and made it to the island in the afternoon. It sure was nice to get in the lee and out of the wind for a while. We set up for some Halibut drifts and were rewarded with a couple of the nice flats along with some trophy Yellows like the one Bob Nakaji and crewman Ryan Davis show off that went 42 pounds. Some of the guys enjoyed a nice Calico Bass bite off the bow throwing plastics of all sorts. We plan on spending half the night in the calm behind the island before we head back out to the offshore scene. The wind is up out there today, but is forecasted to come back down in the next couple of days. We are going to head out tonight and get back in the Bluefin zone by evening so that were in good position the following day when the weather is scheduled to give us a break once again."
