The striper bite at New Hogan took a down hill turn.

This weeks outing proved to be very challenging. The temperamental bass made us work for every fish we got, with long periods of time between bites. Although our weekly average was 5 fish per day we had to work extra hours.

The 3 to 5 lbs. bass are still holding in the main lake area, down 25 to 30 feet deep. Anchovies and shad triggered our take downs with lots of short bites. I do think though the striper bite will pick up as we near the end of the spawn when females become more active.

Lake surface temperature 77 degrees.
