The Puerto Morelos sportfishing action continues to provide exciting fishing reports for the Cancun to Cozumel area and this week was no different. We received the weekly fishing reports that reflected another wide spectrum mixed bag catch that produced a 15 fish species and a 39% billfish catch rate for the boats. The weekly catch report reflected 4 blue marlin, 2 white marlin, 5 sailfish, 25 dorado, 3 wahoo, 9 Atlantic barracuda, 8 blackfin tuna, 2 Spanish mackerel, 3 king mackerel, 2 bonito, 1 rainbow runner, 1 amberjack, 10 triggerfish, 4 grouper and 5 snappers for the combined total of 28 fishing days.

PM Climate: Mostly cloudy days but overall, clear and warm with temps from 77 nights to 88 daytime highs and light easterly surface breezes.

Sea Conditions: Water temps holding stable at 85 degrees. Good, clean, water all over the area and mostly light tropical surface breezes in the 5-15 mph ranges.

Best Bait/Lure: The preferred bait of choice for this are continues to be the freshly caught ballyhoo baits provided on a daily basis.

Bait Supply: Very different from our other fishing areas, the Puerto Morelos area is seemingly unaffected by moon phases and other conditions that can make bait supplies difficult. During the past five years, we have never experienced any bait shortages for this area.
