Fish Report for 5-20-2012
With great weather & even better fishing Silver Lake is a great destination

The Month of May has been an incredible month at Silver Lake. With incredible weather and even better fishing, we are looking forward to a great 2012 Summer Season. The great weather and colder water temperature has produced some fantastic fish both in Silver Lake and Rush Creek. Fishing at the far end of Silver Lake where Rush Creek dumps into Silver near Wallace Berry's island has produced a steady stream of nice one pound stockers over the past week, as well as an occasional two plus pounder.
Hatches are just starting to pick up for various insects so start to think about using some smaller California Mosquitoes, some small blood midges, or some dark colored nymphs. If you are a bait fisherman, Berkley's Gulp Yellow with Glitter or Garlic have been doing very well at "The Point" where Alger Creek flows into Silver Lake. If you are out in a boat try using some of Berkley's new Mouse tails, they are killing them with the Pearl White/Florescent Orange or Natural/Florescent Red. If you are going to fish Rush Creek, Salmon Eggs and worms have been producing some very nice Rainbows and a number of great Browns as well. Look to start using more and more flies on Rush and Silver over the next week, as the warm weather is pushing along some of the hatches.
"Fish of the Week"
Dylan Holmes, Age 12, pictured above of Hermosa Beach landed some very nice Rainbow trout using Garlic Power bait. One weighing in at 1 pound 8 ounce and the other weighing in at 1 pound 15 ounces fishing from a boat on Silver Lake.
Jason Ferrell of Alisio Viejo caught a gorgeous 2 pound 4 ounce Brown out of Rush Creek using Salmon eggs. Parker Heider had a great catch reeling in a nice 2 pound 7 ounce and a 2 pound 5 ounce using Garlic Power bait. James Campos of Fontana caught a nice 2 pound 12 ounce on Silver Lake using Power Eggs.
We also had a great Brown brought in from Grant Lake by Paul Steele of Hesperia weighing in at 3 pound 15 ounces.
The weather is beautiful and the Fishing is great at Silver lake and Rush Creek.
Happy Fishing and Good Luck!!!
