Fish Report for 10-16-2011
Last Report from Silver Lake for this Season
10-16-2011
Andrew Jones
The fishing season at Silver Lake and Rush Creek has been a good one this season, thanks to weekly stocking of fish by DFG and some very timely stocking of Alpers Trout. Fishing season continues until November 15th but Silver Lake Resort will be closing as of October 17th for the 2011 season, so this will be our final fishing report for the season. The past two weeks has produced an abundance of nice size stringers of trout and an occasional 2 to 3 pounder. With the water cooling down and Fall upon us, worms has been producing the best quality of fish lately. Anglers have also been doing well from the shore using Garlic, Salmon Egg Red and Salmon Peach Power Baits. Try tossing a Tasmanian Devil or A Thomas Buoyant and as long as the day time temperatures stays relatively warm, try a small Gnat or a Blue Dunn in the fly department.
Fish of the week goes to Dennis Rudd of San Diego, in the main photo, who hauled in a 3 pound 2 ounce Rainbow from the shore of Silver Lake using Power Bait. Linda Anderson of Simi Valley caught a 2 pound 6 ounce Rainbow from shore using Garlic Power bait. Luke (age 6) and Jake (age 4) Johnson of Saugus landed a stringer full of nice fish using Thomas Buoyants. Preston and Joshua Moll of Folsom caught another great looking stringer from Rush Creek using Power Baits.
The fish are still out there and with the beauty of the Fall colors in the June Lake Loop right now, you can't beat it. The colors of the Aspens are as gold as they can get and the beauty of the area is breath taking. Don't forget that the Second Summer Trout Derby will continue until November 15th at Silver Lake, Grant Lake, June Lake, Bridgeport Reservoir, Walker River, Convict, Crowley and Lake Mary.
Thanks For Another Great Season!!!
Happy Fishing
