Important Ranger 85 Schedule Change

5-7-2012
Frank Ursitti - Ranger 85

Hi Everyone,

May is upon us and we all can't help but gaze upon the horizon waiting to usher in summer.

We have made the decision to keep the Ranger 85 in Channel Islands through most of July. Our first trip in San Diego fishing offshore will be a 2.5 day trip departing July 31st.

My reasoning for this is that the water setup continues to be cool and while I feel we will have a good offshore season I also feel it will be a later start.

There currently are good signs of Bluefin Tuna just over 200 miles south and that bodes well for our season.

There also is not a dramatic "wall" of impassable cold water like there has been the past 2 seasons to the south, discouraging fish from moving up.

That being said, there remains generally cooler conditions as of this writing. I believe we will have good Albacore and Bluefin fishing this season starting late in July and carrying well into the fall.

We have moved to consolidate our charters fishing offshore to the months of August, September and October.

We do have some prime dates still available for private charter as well as availability on what is considered to be one of the best open party multi-day schedules in the fleet.

Check out our schedule online @ Ranger85.com.

I realize this news is not a shocker to anyone considering the past couple of early seasons we have experienced. It has always been my intent to provide our customers with a rewarding and productive fishing experience. The best way to do that is to target those conditions that present themselves to that end; hence we have designed our schedule to accomplish this goal.

The months of May through July will be spent fishing the Northern Channel Islands. Here we will target White Seabass and Halibut as game fish, as well as other island species like Calico Bass, Lingcod and Rockfish.

If you have yet to experience the Northern Channel Islands I suggest one of our 2 day trips. You will have the opportunity to fish 2 full days in some of the most productive and scenic areas on our coast.

Whichever your preference, we look forward to taking you offshore on your next adventure.

Capt. Frank
