The change in weather brought the tally up to almost a billfish per boat day fished. The skippers were reporting seeing many billfish and the secret was getting them to bite the baits. The lower Sea of Cortez is starting to shape up into it's spring mode, when the water temps and overall sea conditions begin to improve every week and along comes the better fishing in the offshore waters. Soon, we will have the schools of dorado back on location at the buoys and with the dorado come the black and blue marlin. During the past week the fleet reported in for 15 days fished in the offshore waters that resulted in 10 stripers, (3 released) and 3 sailfish, along with 1 dorad and 1 mako shark. The inshore super pangas, reporting in for 10 days fished, reflected 12 corvina, (10-18 lb. fish) 29 jack crevalle, (aka toro) 41 perch, 3 black snook 8 big red snappers, (15-20 lbs.) and 9 white snappers. All in all, it was pretty decent fishing for the entire fleet for this time of year and it bodes well for Easter Week anglers.

Mazatlan Climate: Mostly sunny & warm days with cool nights and temps that ranged from 53 nights to 84 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Mostly light and variable surface breezes and very little swell in the offshore waters and temps holding at 73 degrees, rising from 71 degrees from the shoreline to about 14-15 miles

Best Fishing Area: Continues to be out to the southwest of the Marina El Cid at about 24-30 miles or so.

Best Bait/Lure: The rigged trolling baits, (mostly mullet (aka Lisa) have been performing very well for the anglers.

Bait Supply: Good supply of both, live bait and mullet for rigging baits.
