James Adley started the week's catch off with a 7 lb. 8 oz. Catfish. With the warmer days and nights I knew it was just a matter of time before the Catfish catches would start to pick up. That's great news for the derby participants since the winner of 1/2 the pot only has to have the biggest fish (doesn't matter what KIND of fish). The pot is getting smaller and smaller each week and I'm not sure if it's because people are unaware that it is a weekly derby or if they just aren't being told about it! EACH WEEK you may purchase a daily ticket for $5 and log in your biggest fish of that day for a chance to win. The "new week begins on Monday and ends on Sunday at closing (10 pm).

Chris Halsey of Yuba City is a "Fish Magnet" to be reckoned with!! His huge stringer held 5 Bass, 25 Crappie, 10 Bluegill and a 7 Pound Catfish. Mostly using Mini Jigs but also worms on the east shore is where Chris picked up all these fish. A 6 Pound Trout was netted from the shore by Dale Lazon of Auburn who was fishing with Powerbait. Barry Naylor picked up a nice Trout while fishing with Bob & Probhat using worms. Joe Estrada caught 3 Crappie, and the biggest weighed 2 pounds. This week many Crappie were caught and I highly recommend you eat one if you get one, they are wonderful tasting fish. Joe of Antelope caught 10 Crappie off the dock at night using live minnows. Megan, and friends used worms off the dock and landed 5 Crappie and a Bluegill.

Derek Souza flipped a Hula Popper in Elmer's Cove and hooked onto a 3 lb. 4 oz. Bass. David Callison and his buddy released at least 25 Bass and took 10 home, their largest was 3 lb. 12 oz. They primarily fish the east shore and used either live crawdads or plastic worms in about 10 feet of water. Marissa Swadener and her family did quite well on trout this week. They fished mostly off the dock using worms but also in the north channel using worms.

Trolling slowed down this week for most people. We didn't have any luck trolling but as soon as we cut the engine and threw a worm overboard it wasn't long before we were getting bites. We mostly fished below the powerlines but my husband and a friend got one by the dam on worms, with a couple of "takedowns" as well.
