Castaic Lake Staff
Upper Lake WATER TEMP: Mid 50's
Lower Lagoon WATER TEMP: Mid to High 50's
Next Plant: The Department of Fish and Game will be stocking the Upper Lake with Rainbow Trout the week of March 25th.
Dry Gulch Will be CLOSED from March 26th thru May 26th for Fish Spawning!
Largemouth have been on the rise at the upper lake going crazy on nightcrawlers and plastics. A Texas Rig with a Power Worm or Senko has been nailing the Largemouth in Old SS and Alligator cove. Wacky Rigged Senko's have been slamming the largemouth all along the shoreline in Hawks Nest and around Firebreak. The Largies are definitely coming into shallower waters but the weather keeps going from warm to cold making the bite inconsistent every few days or so.
The stripers have still been hard to come by but again some anglers are getting lucky with ice jigs off the points and even one or two around the buoy line. The catfish are still hitting sardines and nightcrawlers at the buoy line and range from about 2 to 10 lbs. At the lagoon the largemouth are also feeling the pressure from the weather so the bite has been off and on, but when its been on its good.
