Club member Dana Miller made several December trips to Eagle Lake, prior to the season ending on New Year's Day. Conditions were very cold, ranging from a low of 13 degrees to a high of only 24 degrees. Ice on the rod guides was a continual problem, and at times some of the fishing areas were completely iced over.

Miller reported that by far the most productive fly pattern was a tui chub, with brown leech and orange wiggle tails also fooling a few fish. Most of the trout were beautiful 16 to 18 inch "footballs", with a handful of larger fish to 21 inches.
