Thanks to sponsor Jerry Brown of Line One spectra, we got this news story: The San Francisco chronicle's SFGate.com ran an article November 24 by Alicia Chang, an AP science writer, relating the discovery of tuna bones and other deep-water fish in a cave on East Timor. Dating techniques used by a researcher from the Australian National University confirmed the remains to be 42,000 years old and the earliest known evidence of ocean fishing.

The article said researchers "...also unearthed fragment of fish hook made out of bone from the same East Timor site including one that dated to between 16,000 and 23000 years ago."
