Line Minder: A Little Help
11-4-2011
Bill Roecker
Have you ever struggled with a spool of line or fluorocarbon after taking a length of the stuff for your fishing needs? Here's a handy little device I encountered at Pat's Bait & Tackle in Vista that seems to handle the problem of putting the spool away with having the stuff on it uncoil and mess up your tackle. It's called a Shark Tooth, and it's just an elastic band with a gizmo, the "tooth." Your line feeds through a small hole, and you pull off what's required and then cut it neatly with a tiny blade in the tooth. That's it--the band stays on until you've used the spool, and then you can remove it and put it on a new spool. It's not going to change the world, but I'm going put it on a couple of fluorocarbon spools I'm using the most. It'll be nice not to have to fight that curly stuff to keep it on the spool to put it away. You can see more about it at www.getsharktooth.com.
