Willy Leung was the chartermaster on Royal Polaris for the annual Hi's Charter with 30 anglers aboard, and he won second place. The trip returned with skipper Frank LoPreste to Fisherman's Landing on October 31 with a good catch of yellowtail and a mix of tuna, wahoo and bottomfish. Three good-sized wahoo took the jackpots.

Eric Sandquist of San Rafael won first place for a 60-pound wahoo that ate his sardine on a 4/0 Owner Gorilla hook and 40-pound Seaguar Premier fluorocarbon leader. He said he fished with 30-pound Izorline on a Newell 332 reel and a Calstar 800 L rod.

Willy Leung of San Francisco won second place for a 52.8-pound skinny he got with a home-made red and silver bomb on 40-pound line. Bob Brister of Wellington, NV won third place for a 47-pound wahoo that bit on a Salas 6X Jr. jig in pink and black on 50-pound line.
"I missed the big fish by one day," remarked LoPreste. "But I'll be going back after next trip."
