Ray Lopez docked American Angler at Pt. Loma sportfishing October 30 after the annual 10-day charter with Brad LeMoine as chartermaster. There were 25 anglers aboard and they visited The Ridge, Mag Bay, the southern banks and the Benitos Islands, noted Ray. Fishing was very good on quality yellowtail and dorado, with wahoo to 67 pounds spicing the catch. That big one was taken on a trolled Marauder jig in Halloween colors of orange and black, by Miguel Padilla of LA, and it was his first skinny ever.

Bill Randall of Foothill Ranch won first place for a 57-pound wahoo. "He bit on the sink, on a purple bomb from Ken's custom Reels," said Bill to dock reporter Bill Roecker. "I just put it in gear and he was there!" Randall used 50-pound Big Game line on a Trinidad 40 reel and a Calstar 700 H rod.

Chong Chang of Portland, OR won second place for a 50.8-pound skinny that ate a sardine on 30-pound line. Richard Tanaka of Ontario won third place for a 44.8-pound wahoo. He said it took a Catchy Tackle orange and black spinner bomb.
