The red-hot dorado bite continues for the fleet at Mazatlan and the fish are mostly in the medium size ranges, typically 15-30 lbs or so, with an occasional larger bull dorado in the mix. It has been especially fun fishing for the light tackle and fly rod enthusiasts on a daily basis and has been consistently producing limit style fishing for 99% of the boats, both inshore and offshore. The overall fish counts for 11 offshore fishing days reflected 5 sailfish, (3 releases) and limits of dorado while the inshore super pangas reporting in for 4 days fished also reflected limits of dorado and many releases. Texas anglerett, Amanda Caldwell, fishing on her birthday, landed/released 10 dorado and Canadian anglers, Bryan Dubean and Dennis Johnson, had a total of 21 dorado landed/released for 2 days fished.

Mazatlan Climate:
Mostly cloudy days with comfortable temperatures that ranged from 73 nights to 91 daytime highs and an occasional scattered thunder shower.

Sea Conditions:
Overall, a good sea weather week for the most part with 5-10 mph surface breezes and long, low rolling swells and sea temps that ranged from 83 inshore to 87-88 offshore.

Best Fishing Area:
The billfish were scattered in the offshore waters as were the bigger dorado but the buoys were the best at producing the dorado numbers and hot action for the anglers.

Best Lure/Bait:
Live bait is always a hot dorado producer and slow trolled rigged baits for the sailfish. Alternate baits for the dorado were ballyhoo, shrimp, poppers and Rapalas.

Bait Supply:
Excellent for both, live bait and trolling baits.
