The Results of American Angler's Two and One-Half Day Trip

Brian Kiyohara docked American Angler at Pt. Loma Sportfishing September 24 after a quick two and a half-day trip down about 140 miles below San Diego. His 30 anglers made a good catch, with limits of small tuna, and 75 dorado and two bluefin.
Chuck Hone of Gardnerville, NV won first place for a 23-2-pound yellowfin. He said he got it with a sardine on a 2/0 Mustad 91450 hook. He fished with 30-pound Blackwater fluorocarbon and 30-pound P-Line on a Penn 545 reel and a seven-foot Ugly Stick.
George Nazaroff of Hacienda Heights won second place for his 22.2-pounder, and Eric Masuda of Sacramento won third place for a 21.8-pound yellowfin tuna.
