Results of the Royal Polaris Seven Day Trip
9-17-2011
Bill Roecker
Roy Rose brought Royal Polaris home to Fisherman's Landing September 17 after a seven-day trip with 30 anglers. They had a mixed bag of fish that included over a dozen halibut. One of the halibut catchers was Karl Fechner of Palos Verdes.
"Alijos Rocks was dead," he said. "We fished on The Ridge, and that was slow until about 4 PM when we hit the mother lode of yellowtail. E fished at Cedros , where we got the halibut and then came up to 160 miles, where we found a last-minute kelp that gave us plenty of dorado, yellowfin and bluefin."
The biggest fish from the trip was a 73-pound gulf grouper caught by Jim Tallerico of Las Vegas on a sardine and a two-ounce sliding sinker,as shown in the photo with Capt Ron Rose.
