The California Department of Fish and Game and NOAA Fisheries have issued an Ocean Salmon Fishery Closure Notice.
The 1,400 Chinook salmon quota is projected to be met, necessitating immediate closure of the commercial salmon season between the Oregon-California border and Humboldt South Jetty effective 11:59 p.m., Monday, July 18, 2011.
