Qualifier Crew

It was another great day here on the big Q 105. We fished the lee of Cedros for a bunch of bass and a few nice halibuts. On the big boat, we drifted for halibuts and landed some nice fish. Big fish of the day was Dave Snyder of Las Vegas. He had one that went 33 lbs. Wayne "Coop" Cooper had a couple of keepers and another hand full was landed. In the skiffs, we headed for the north head until the wind came up. After we went south, a ways in the skiffs we found the bass. When we switched out the gang in the skiffs, it was time for a halibut drift or two. With Tim in the skiff was Coop, Mike Lepore, and charter master Rod " nice guy" Conner. Up on the beach in about 10 feet of water we immediately saw a halibut swim under the boat. Mike hooked it and we landed that one, around 18 lbs. A blind cast up to the rocks and Tim hooked and landed a fish around the same size. Next was Coop with another one. A few drifts later, we saw a bigger model and mike hooked it. This fish swam off like a big yellow! A few minutes later, it was in the skiff, a 25 lber. It was a fun morning to say the least. The afternoon run was all bass and it was very good bassin. A couple more halibut on the big boat and 3 black sea bass (all released) and then bass after bass landed. It was a good time in the sun of Cedros. Only complaint was that it was hot today. Tomorrow will be a short stop at San Martin Island and then a run home for Sunday's arrival in San Diego. Till next time the Q crew's out!!
