Steady Tailing

"The yellowtail fishing down here remains steady," reported the Excel June 30, "with lots of fish in the 20 to 30-pound class. Most of the bites are coming on the fly lined sardines and just a few on the iron. Even though the yellows were willing to cooperate, the tunas are a different story. We managed to only boat a few of the nicer grade tuna from 60 to 80 pounds today but we did have our chances. Quite a few got away after long battles on light gear. Our plan is to stay here tomorrow and try to finish up on yellowtail and hopefully have better luck with the tuna."
