Saturday is "License Free" fishing day
6-30-2011
Steve Carson
Tomorrow, Saturday July 2, will be the first of California's two "License Free" fishing days. The state created this program to allow families, newcomers, and other non-anglers an opportunity to give the sport a try without the expense of purchasing a license.
All other regulations, including bag limits, seasonal closures, gear restrictions, and legal hours remain in effect. Also still required are any applicable special tags or report cards, including sturgeon, steelhead, Klamath-Trinity salmon, spiny lobster, and abalone. The state's second license-free day is scheduled for September 3.
