Chico Bass Club June Meeting Results
6-23-2011
Steve Carson
The Chico Bass Club's June meeting included discussion of the club's longtime Florida-strain bass planting project on Lake Oroville. President Rich Cavanagh reported that lots of 13-14 inch largemouth bass are showing up in creel surveys to a greater degree than any time the past six years.
The club's May tournament took place at Lake Almanor during stormy conditions. In fact, Day Two of the competition was canceled due to the threat of snow.
Not a lot of fish were caught, but the winners reported that they caught their fish with 3.5-inch watermelon/black flake tubes, rainbow flukes, and five-inch Basstrix. Top finishers:
Larry Myer- 9.38 pounds
Jeff Buckley- 7.84
Randy Bowersox- 2.73
Big Fish Buckley- 2.90.
The club held its annual officer elections, with the following results:
President- Randy Bowersox
Vice-President- Rich Cavanagh
Secretary- Sharon Hibdon
Treasurer- Vi Brown
Tournament Director- Jeff Buckley
Members At Large- Larry Myer and Jim Carr.
