Hello Anglers,

Today we fished on the ridge to concentrate on yellowtail or try to get a grouper. We got anchored up around 0200 and had high hopes of getting some yellows in the dark but all we caught was barracuda and released a couple of black sea bass. When it got light out we started to look around for fish and saw two big breezers of yellows. While we sliding up on the fish we could have touched them with a gaff because they were just rolling on the surface eating red crabs right next to the boat.Because the fish were on the red crabs we did not catch as many as we could have if they were in fin bait but we had a very good morning catching fish in the surface jigs, yo yo jigs and flylined sardines. There was also some black sea bass mixed in with the yellows and we caught and released 11 of those as well. Our yellowtail were anywhere from 14 to 28 pounds and all weights in between with the majority being 15 to 17 pounds. We got what we needed for the day and left at noon to run back up to where we saw the bluefin but did not see anything. We are going to be in the albacore area tomorrow around noon to try to catch a few more of them and look for a few bluefin so we will check in tomorrow. Sorry no pictures Reported by: Shawn Steward

Hello Anglers,

Today we started with a very good albacore bite while we sat on the sea anchor. From 0530 to 0800 we had 2 to 5 fish going all of the time. The fish were in the 16 to 24 pound range and we were getting most of our fish on flylined sardines and those who could cast a fishtrap were getting just as many bite as the guys using baits. A very good start to our day and when...... Read More
