"We had nice weather today," reported Red Rooster III skipper Andy Cates June 17, "and spent most of the day looking offshore. We finally found some biting fish and picked off a school for 40 Bluefin before dark. It was a pleasant stop with decent size fish: 25 to 40- pounders. We are going to do this again tomorrow and see if we can make scene of it a little earlier. Hopefully get a school on the sea anchor."

On June 18, Cates wrote, "We are in travel mode right now. We spent the morning in search of another school of Blue fin. The weather came up and made it harder to work. The life was still there it just seemed like the fish were down for the morning. Same bird life and water conditions just no sign of fish. We looked around until 1000 and decided that Alijos will be our next stop. Hopefully the water has come up in temp and some tuna have moved in. It would really be exciting to see and catch tuna at the Rocks. I know all the upcoming eight-day trips are eagerly waiting for the news of yellowfin. The Bluefin fishery is still a go and we will give it a go at the end of the trip. As the weather comes down it will be easier to relocate."
