LAKE POWAY FISHING REPORT - ending April 24, 2011

4-27-2011
Lake Poway Staff

Lots of trout limits on Saturday April 23. The trout have started to move into deeper water with the warm weather but remain active. Most were caught on a slow troll in the middle of the lake but the East Shoreline to Hidden Bay stayed hot for trout and sunfish / bluegill. Nightcrawlers have been the bait of choice for everything but the bass. The bass are all over. Still lots cruising the shoreline and a bunch busting on top water throughout the lake. Swim Baits have been best for bass. Please remember that now through the end of May bass are on a catch and release only program. Kevin Norling still leads the way in the Fisherman's Outpost give-away with an eight-pound bass caught off the Fishing Float. You have until May 1st to beat that mark to get a rod / reel combo. The water temperature is 61 in 25 feet of water.

NIGHT FISHING:
Night fishing resumes at Lake Poway on Friday June 10, 2011 and will run until Saturday August 13. During Night Fishing Lake Poway will be open until 11:30pm for Shoreline Fishing and 11:00pm for Boat Fishing. The annual Midnight Catfish Craze will be on July 8, 2011 from 4:00pm to 12:00am.
