Big Trout and Spawning Bass

3-30-2011
Lake Poway Staff

This week saw a good amount double digit trout and lots of mid-sized bass. Sergio Leone of San Diego caught a 12.5lbs trout in Hidden Bay off of a lure. The bass spawn is in full force. Lots of bass all along the shoreline on their beds. There is a lot of moss and algae on the shoreline hiding the bass beds but if you walk the trail of cruise along in a boat you will all the bass poking out of the moss. Additionally, be on the lookout for Lake Poway's Family Campout Adventure Series coming on Saturday, April 16, 2011. This full moon campout is geared more towards the fisherman. The campout will include Family Fishing Permits; a boat for night fishing after the park is closed and cleared of the public, a fishing seminar hosted by Fisherman' s Outpost, a camp fire and complimentary hot beverages in the morning at the Lake Poway Grill & Tackle. For more information, e-mail or call the Park Ranger Office at (858) 668 - 4772 or LakeRanger@poway.org.
