Shogun Sportfishing Trip Update (110910)
11-9-2010
Bill Roecker
A SKIN SWEEP & A NEAR MISS (110910)!!! Norm Kagawa docked his Shogun at Fisherman's Landing after a ten-day trip November 9. His 24 anglers disembarked and Norm reminisced about the trip.
"We went down The Ridge," he said, "and then down to Cow Town. We left one day too early, the cows started to bite. We came back up on The Ridge again, and we didn't try The Rocks on this trip. There didn't seem to be much going on. We fished at Cedros and got the one premium yellowtail you saw in the report."
Wahoo swept the Shogun jackpot. Jerry Lissman of Valencia got the biggest one, a 53.4-pounder, on straight mono. He said it bit on a sardine and a 3/0 ringed Owner Mutu hook on 50-pound Izorline. He used a Penn 4/0 Baja Special reel and a custom six-foot rod made by Yo's.
Darek Miller of Castro Valley won second place for a 52.2-pound skinny that bit on the dropper loop. Soon Lee of Vancouver, BC won third place for a 49.8-pound Wahoo he snared with 30-pound mono.
